During the descent you will have the chance to enjoy the canyons, run fun rapids, hike to a waterfall, and enjoy tropical scenery. Runs all year round. Lowland Birdwatching Tour Hacienda Baru

Short tour: Departure: Monday – Saturday, 6:00 AM, requires prior reservation. Estimated time: 3 hours  Includes: Bilingual guide (English/Spanish), admission fee to Hacienda Barú National Wildlife Refuge, Bird Watching Tower, Medicinal Plant Garden and breakfast. Price: $36 per person. Limit: 8 people per group. Minimum 2 people. Long Tour: Departure: Monday – Saturday, 6:00 AM, requires prior reservation. Estimated time: 5 hours  Includes: Bilingual naturalist guide and typical Costa Rican breakfast, admission Fee to Hacienda Barú National Wildlife Refuge, Bird Watching Tower, Breakfast, and the Medicinal Plant Garden. Lowland Bird Watching Hike – Short Version The tour begins with birding the area near the starting point,  just like the long version. From there you visit the lowland trails and beach near the lodge. You are birding during the early hours when the birds are most active. Breakfast is not included with this tour.   Lowland Bird Watching Hike long version The Lowland Bird Watching Hike begins early when the birds are just beginning to wake up. After a cup of coffee we will take you by car to the Hacienda Barú Biological Research Center a couple of kilomenters away. From there you will hike through secondary forest with your sharp-eyed guide. This is an ideal location for spotting tanagers, honeycreepers, toucans, saltators, vireos and others. After about an hour you will arrive at rookery where egrets, herons and ibis are often found. From the rookery you will continue along the edge of the mangrove and complete the loop back to the Biological Research Center where you will enjoy a delicious breakfast of typical Costa Rican food. The final leg of the tour includes secondary forest and the beach, your best opportunities to observe shore birds such as whimbrels, plovers, phalaropes, sandpipers and sanderlings, pelicans and frigatebirds. From the beach it is a short walk back to the Guide Center, where you began.

Sportfisihing with Ballena Aventura from Uvita

We offer two types of sport fishing: Deep sea (full day) or Coastal (half day). The deep sea fishing starts at 07:00 a.m. with a duration of 7 to 8 hours approximately. Our meeting point will be at the office of Ballena Aventura, we will offer a refreshing juice of seasonal fruit along with a snack to taste while we make the registration of each of our companions. Once registered we will move on for a small walk of Ballena Bay history to the entrance of the Ballena National Marine Park (Uvita Beach sector), where we will take the boat that will be waiting for us. During the offshore fishing we are looking for larger species such as tuna, mahi mahi, sailfish, wahoo, among others. Departure: 7:00 am Estimated time: 7- 8 hours Includes: Boat transportation, experienced captain in fishing, bilingual guide (Spanish/English), safety equipment, fishing equipment, water, fruits, sandwiches, cookies, insurance and private parking for your vehicle if required. Requirement/Recommendations: Not suitable for pregnant women of high risk, nor children under 2 years of age. Bring: Swimsuit, suitable clothing and footwear, Sun block, Insect repellent, Hat, cap, sunglasses or other sunscreen articles, Beach or bath towel, Personal medicines, Dry bag for storing important objects (optional), Binoculars, video and/or photographic camera (optional). Price: $1000 Limit: 1 to 5 people. The coastal fishing starts at 07:00 a.m. with a duration of 4 to 5 hours approximately.
