Oro Verde Nature Reserve

Oro Verde is a privately-owned nature reserve encompassing 150 hectares (370 acres) of secondary and primary lowland rainforest. Hundreds of bird species have been spotted in this reserve’s forests. Oro Verde is located in a little village named San Josecito, 18 km south of Dominical, 3.5 km (2 miles) up the mountain from the Coastal Highway. This nature reserve has been owned and operated by the Duarte family for nearly 50 years, and they have welcomed visitors from all over the world for over two decades. Their motto is “the Duarte house is your house, and Oro Verde’s rainforest is your rainforest.”
