It is a 4 to 5 hour drive from San José. You may come either through the mountains or take the coastal highway. Call us if you need to rent a car. Option 1: San José-Cartago-San Isidro de Pérez Zeledón-Dominical

If you decide to come through the mountains, take the Inter-American Highway to the south, passing by Cartago, and head to San Isidro de Pérez Zeledón. At McDonald’s in San Isidro, turn right to Dominical (there is a sign). Once you arrive to Dominical, drive 18 km south. You will see Uvita Information Center office on the right-hand side, approximately 1 km south of the Servicentro Bahía gas station, opposite the Banco de Costa Rica office.

Option 2: San José-Quepos-Dominical

If you decide to come through the coastal highway, you need to drive past Atenas and the Aguacate Mountains, and take the road to Jacó Beach in the crossroads at Orotina. To get to Dominical, you have to head south from Jacó passing several towns and villages,: Esterillos, Parrita, Quepos, Portalón, Matapalo, and Hatillo. this part it is not pavement and the road cab be rough.
Once you arrive to Dominical the road is pavement again, drive 18 km south. You will see Uvita Information Center office on the right-hand side, approximately 1 km south of the Servicentro Bahía gas station, opposite the Banco de Costa Rica office.
