Sonia León – Owner
Born and brought up in Colombia, Sonia Leon is the youngest of three sisters. She has a degree in Finances and Foreign Affairs.
Sonia made of the South Pacific her home over eight years ago. During this time, she has had the opportunity to gain first-hand experience about the main tourist attractions of the area and to know most hotel owners and tour operators throughout COSTA BALLENA.
Thanks to her extensive experience, and to the fact that virtually everybody in the area knows her or have heard of her, she decided to venture with her own business, which has become a main reference point for travelers and residents of Uvita and its surroundings.
Sonia has also worked with local communities and cooperation agencies to implement development projects that are nature-friendly.
Francine Ocampo – Collaborator
Francine Ocampo is Costa Rican, originally from the province of Heredia. She is married and loves family life. Francine holds a Master’s degree in translation English-Spanish.
She lived in COSTA BALLENA for four years and went back to Heredia a few months ago, but she still works for Uvita Information Center from home. She is known for her kindness and professionalism. She worked with well-known real estate companies in the area and has done translations for several businesses and individuals.
Many of the members of the resident foreign community know Francine, so her presence in Uvita Information Center has contributed to maintain our business’ reliability and excellent customer service.
Francine loves the scenic beauty and natural wealth of the South Pacific. Thus, she is concerned about the damages caused by unscrupulous development to the area’s natural resources in the last years. She loves children, literature both in English and Spanish, movies and music.
Marcela Sequeira – collaborator
Marcela, Marce like her friends call her, grew in Costa Ballena and is part of two of the main pioneer families that first settled in Uvita area. Her mother’s family, the Duartes, own Oro Verde Biological Reserve, and her father has been an active environmentalist and entrepreneur in the area.
Marcela is a fundamental part of our work team with her first-hand experience and knowledge of the area, its attractions, and its services. She lived in Germany for one year, so she knows what travelers need and what they look for. She speaks English and German. She also contributes her valuable knowledge in management to Uvita Information Center. Marce studies Business Administration, and she has always been involved in the management of her family businesses (a butcher’s shop, a supermarket, and currently a bar and restaurant). Furthermore, Marcela has a great heart and is in favor of social causes.
One of the most important things in her life is her family and friends, so she tries to spend as much time as she can with them.
Marcela likes to take sunbaths and read on the beach and, of course, she loves the sunsets of Uvita with their beautiful colors. She invites you to visit her hometown. She will be glad to help you with your vacation plans and trip arrangements at Uvita Information Center.
